Photographer charged with causing death by dangerous driving

Photographer Delano Williams, the man accused of causing the death of Sewcharran Persaud Ugraj while allegedly driving under the influence was today admitted to bail in the sum of $350,000 when he appeared before acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.

It is alleged that on June 26 at Sheriff Street, Georgetown, Williams drove motor vehicle PMM 1094 in manner dangerous to the public, thereby causing the death of Ugraj.

On the same day also, the 28-year-old who resides at 10 Mon Repos East Coast Demerara is alleged to have been driving while his blood alcohol level was over the legal limit.

The accused was not required to plead to the indictable charge; meanwhile, he denied driving under the influence.

He was granted bail in the sum of $300,000 for the causing death offence and $50,000 for the other.

The matter will be called again on July 20.
