Suspect in Big Creek Landing stabbing to be charged soon

The suspect in the murder of miner Charles Tang, who was stabbed during an argument at Big Creek Landing, North West District on Monday, is to be charged shortly.

The suspect, who sustained injuries to the head and arm after being beaten by residents shortly after the stabbing, remains a patient of the Georgetown Hospital. Stabroek News understands that he is to be charged shortly. Meanwhile, a post-mortem examination yesterday confirmed that Tang succumbed to multiple stab wounds he sustained.

Police had said that Tang was fatally stabbed by another miner.

According to the police, Tang was drinking with another miner at Big Creek Landing, located some 45 km from the Port Kaituma waterfront, when an argument developed between them, resulting in the stabbing.
The knife suspected to have been used in the incident has been recovered by the police.
