Port Kaituma miner set on fire after row

A 42-year old Port Kaituma resident was severely burnt about the body on Wednesday evening following an altercation with another man.

According to reports, Tenny France of Port Kaituma in the North West District was walking through a section of the community last Wednesday evening when another man with whom he had an altercation over a woman, threw gasoline on him.

The man was then set alight by his assailant who made good his escape. France, who is a miner by profession, was taken to the Port Kaituma Hospital where his condition was assessed by medical staff. He was transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital on Saturday.

He was in severe pain when this newspaper visited yesterday.

The matter was reported to the police and the suspect was later arrested.
