Jamaican drowns in Berbice River

A Jamaican national died last Thursday after he reportedly fell out of the boat he was travelling in along the Berbice River, hitting his head in the process.

Police sources identified the man as Thomas William Paul, who moved from a Wortmanville, Georgetown address about two months to Gateroy, Berbice River.

Stabroek News was told that a post-mortem examination performed by Dr. Nehaul Singh revealed that the man died as a result of drowning.

His employer was arrested but was released yesterday after residents said that the man fell out of the boat.
