Road safety council inviting volunteers to training session

The Guyana National Road Safety Council (GNRSC) is hosting a Road Safety Volunteers Training Workshop to show its support for the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020 by the United Nations.

In a press release the GNRSC said it is embarking on the project in partnership with the Ministry of Home Affairs. The workshop is set for August 18 and 19 at the International Conference Centre at 9.30am. President Bharrat Jagdeo is expected to give an address at the opening ceremony on August 18.

The training entails Road Safety education components that will equip volunteers in becoming proficient road safety advocates, “as together we strive to reduce the carnage and eradicate lawlessness on our roadways.”

The release said meals and transportation will be provided for volunteers. To confirm participation, the public is advised to contact GNRSC Coordinator Ramona Doorgen on telephone numbers 226-0384 or 617-1525.
