Bajan kingpin facing 20 years for US trafficking

(Barbados Nation) A Barbadian dubbed the ringleader of a sophisticated drug enterprise that transported illegal drugs between Barbados, other countries and New York faces a 20-year minimum sentence in the United States.

Victor Bourne, who worked as a baggage handler at American Airlines, was convicted last month of several charges, including running a continuous criminal enterprise; multiple counts of cocaine importation and distribution: and international marijuana trafficking.

Bourne, 35, was charged along with dispatching crew chief at America Airlines, Miguel Bozza.

Bourne’s mother Maria Alleyne, 51, owner of a shoe store was also charged but found not guilty of conspiring to avoid financial reporting requirements.
