T&T businessman shot dead

(Trinidad Express) Businessman Brian Alexander, owner of the popular Icon Restaurant and Bar in Cunupia, was shot dead yesterday.

Alexander, 37, died outside his business place at the junction of Chin Chin Road and Madras Road.

He had bullet wounds to the right side of his neck and upper chest.

Police were told that around 1 p.m., Alexander was at the bar with a female employee, when he walked out to greet a man who was calling his name. The man shot him and then ran off.

Back in August 2007, the bar was the scene of the murder of Waldron Samuel, 24, who was shot multiple times.

Samuel was a State witness due to testify five days later in a preliminary enquiry for a case in which the accused was charged with four murders.

Police said the killing of Alexander is unrelated, but his death was described as a “hit”.

Superintendents Phillip and Abraham and Constable Boxhill visited the scene.
