Shooting probe leads police to shotguns

Police have recovered three shotguns near Zorg-en-Vlygt, Essequibo Coast, where they were investigating the shooting of a resident.

Police said on Thursday that Seymour Patrick was wounded following an incident at a backdam near his hometown. The police stated that ranks went into the backdam area and conducted searches, following which they recovered two improvised 12-gauge shotguns along with a 12-gauge cartridge and an empty shell.

Subsequently, a man was arrested after the ranks discovered another improvised 12 gauge shotgun and two cartridges in his possession.

This newspaper understands that Patrick was fishing aback the community when he was shot following an argument with the suspect. He was taken to the Suddie Hospital, where he was being treated for the gunshot wound.

The suspect is expected to be placed before the courts shortly, a police source noted.
