Two more convicted over possession of illegal fuel

The Guyana Energy Agency, through Special Prosecutor, Attorney-at-Law, Gino Persaud, secured two more convictions at the Leguan Magistrates Court in a verdict handed down by Magistrate Faith McGusty.

According to a GINA press release, Indranie aka Barbara, Francis Dabedin and Roopchan Charles were previously charged jointly with being in possession of illegal petroleum. Charles was additionally charged with the offence of dealing in illegal petroleum.

Indranie and Francis Dabedin were found guilty of being in possession of illegal petroleum and fined $500,000 or nine months imprisonment.

Charles was discharged after the magistrate upheld a no-case submission made by his attorney, the release said.

At the time the decision was handed down by the magistrate, Indranie and Dabedin were not in court.
