UG students engage in ‘practical work’ at Plaisance church

Five Social Science students from the University of Guyana recently engaged in a skills training exercise with members of the Plaisance Church of God Youth Group as part of their practical course work.

A press statement said the five junior and senior students of the DSW 314 – Community Practice course: Raquel Gill, Grantley Laundry, Keane Lynch, Annalisa Marks and Oleta Williams, aimed to empower the youth with skills to cope with the changing society.

The exercise started on September 24 and was held over eight weeks where the students taught the group skills including fundraising, health education, craft making, planning and organising. They also helped them to make valuable financial contributions to their church’s renovation exercises and to provide sustenance for their youth group in conducting future activities.
