Labourer gets $200,000 on attempted murder charge

A 34-year old labourer accused of attempted murder was granted $200,000 bail when he yesterday made his first court appearance in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Sueanna Lovell.

The court heard that on September 22 at Sussex Street, Jomo McDonald discharged a loaded firearm at Richard Daniels. He was not required to plead to the indictable offence.
No facts were presented on the matter.

The defendant’s lawyer applied for reasonable bail and told the court that his client is willing to submit to any conditions of the court.

The prosecution had no objection to bail.
Magistrate Lovell granted bail on the condition that the defendant reports to the Brickdam Police Station every Monday at 1pm. McDonald was then ordered to return to court on January 31.
