What are the NA Mayor and Town Council doing with taxpayers’ money?

Dear Editor,

What are the Mayor and Town Council of New Amsterdam really doing with the taxes of the town? Last year several roads had been resurfaced and done over by the government. This year, several other roads are to be rehabilitated by the government. Street lights have been installed in the town as part of the government’s street-lighting programme, which is ongoing.

Where, then, are the taxpayers’ monies of New Amsterdam going? Is it garbage collection? Even that is deficient. The leaning Town Hall Tower? That is still in a sad state, and likely to collapse at any time. On what are taxes being spent, I ask again?

The same thing is being repeated in Georgetown where the government is always coming to the rescue of the city. Inefficiency knows no bounds in this place.

Where are the funds garnered for the 2010 Town Day? For what project have they been used – salaries for Town Council employees?
The town stinks and reeks of garbage. Bushes have been engaging the deceased souls buried at the Stanleytown cemetery in stiff competition to see whose presence can dominate the other.

Every day some overseas resident or organization pitches in to rescue this sorry and neglected town. How the leaders hold their heads high and pretend, I do not know.
Yours faithfully,
Leon Suseran
