Overcharging of disabled by minibus conductors

Dear Editor,

I am a disabled (blind) resident of New Diamond Housing Scheme. Within the past three weeks I have been overcharged by minibus conductors from Diamond New Scheme to Georgetown on three occasions. The fare is $100 and I have to pay $160. Last Saturday, February 11, I joined the bus at Diamond Public Road and on arriving in Georgetown I gave the conductor of a dark blue bus (I was told), one thousand dollars; he gave me no change and said that I gave him a hundred dollars and drove away.

I hope that something could be done about the behaviour of these drivers, and I only hope that government could again provide public transportation.

Yours faithfully,
Laurie Greenidge
