The AFC can bring hope

Dear Editor,

Like many Guyanese currently living overseas, I left Guyana many years ago in search of hope, prosperity, and opportunities for my children. In my travels, I have met many Guyanese here in the United States and in Canada, who complain about the situation back home.

They want someone to do something about it. And with good reason too. After all, overseas based Guyanese contribute more than 23% of Guyana’s GDP in the form of remittances and goods. Not to mention the monies that visitors take back to friends and families.

When we contribute US$500M to Guyana every year, we are relieving the PPP government of some of its duties to the Guyanese people.

Well there is now a formidable force that is going to do something about the situation in Guyana.

The Alliance For Change is committed to bringing change to Guyana; honest and lasting change and equal opportunity for all the people of Guyana. My reason for supporting the AFC, is their commitment to honest, fair, and equal representation for all the people of Guyana.

Our country is blessed with many natural resources but is one of the poorest in the region. The gap between the rich and poor is enormous and it is getting bigger and bigger. Most of the wealth is owned and controlled by very small minority.

We should make our voices heard now, and contribute ideas and experiences to rebuild Guyana. Let’s make Guyana prosperous and crime free. Say no to gross misdirection of national policies, say no to high taxes, higher unemployment, soaring crime and widespread hopelessness. The Alliance For Change has a plan to turn Guyana around and bring a better life to the people of Guyana and to restore pride and dignity for all Guyanese.

We have suffered far too long. It’s time to make the right turn for Guyana!

It is time to restore pride in Guyana and to stop the mass exodus of citizens. I believe the AFC can bring hope and promise to every Guyanese so that people will want to stay and prosper in Guyana, and so that overseas Guyanese will have representation and feel comfortable in visiting, vacationing, and even remigrating to Guyana to experience the quality of life they have become accustomed to having in their host countries. Guyana should be relevant and a choice.

Yours faithfully,
Nisa Anwar Saeed
