Politicians should use temperate language on the campaign trail

Dear Editor,

As a nation we cannot change the past but we certainly can influence the future.

The unwarranted and debased attack on the media and leading political personalities lacks civility in our political discourse. To nurture a healthy, vibrant and democratic culture of campaigning during elections we need to observe a high degree of decency and respect for each other.

In the final analysis each and every one of the campaigning personalities is hopefully articulating from their perspective what they think is good for Guyana. So let us put Guyana first and be temperate in our language.

Yours faithfully,
Reggie Bhagwandin
