There should be legislation in relation to campaign funding

Dear Editor,

There should be some system in place for the spending of money on election campaigns by the various political parties as well as in relation to the allocation of state radio and TV time.

The combined opposition parties are not even spending one tenth of what the ruling PPP party is spending on posters and other campaign materials.

This is an unfair advantage over the opposition parties, as the ruling PPP/C is being accused of using state funds and resources for their campaign, to which the opposition parties do not have access. This should be looked into for future elections, and legislation should be passed in relation to campaign funding. The opposition parties are not getting enough air time on the state TV station.

So can we say that the upcoming elections will be free and fair taking the above into consideration?

Yours faithfully,
