Inter-School Futsal Competition kicks off today

In an effort to improve interest in sports by students and keep young developed minds from engaging in negative activities, South Star Association will stage  an Inter-School Futsal Competition.

The tournament gets underway today from 4pm at the National Gymnasium where Director of Sport Neil Kumar and President of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Colin Klass are expected to make remarks at the tournament launching.

South Star Association is an organization that is run by tutors from the St. Joseph’s High School and is headed by Bryan Clarke.

According to a release from the association, the competition has attracted some 36 schools that are divided into seven groups.

The tournament’s play dates will be Thursdays and Fridays from 4pm and Saturdays from 3pm with six matches to be contested each day.

The matches to be contested today are Education Trust College versus St. Joseph High School, St. Stanislaus College versus St. Roses High, Queen’s College versus Bishops High, Adult Education versus St. Winifred, Ascension versus Sophia Centre and Satish Memorial versus The Business School.

An admission fee of $100 is set for any day and the students must be attired in school uniforms.
