19 teams booked for Inter-Ministry Domino competition at CSC today

The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports is promoting social interaction through sports with a series of activities this year, commencing  with an Inter-Ministry Domino competition to be held today at the Carifesta Sports Complex (CSC).

Nineteen teams from five ministries and the Office of the President are expected to participate in the tournament, according to a press release.

Trophies and prizes will be up for grabs for the winner, runners-up and  the most outstanding players in the competition, with the first place winner receiving a trophy and $75,000 while first and second runners-up will receive a trophy and $50,000 and $25,000 respectively.

Meanwhile there will also be trophies for The Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament as well as the individual with the most sixes. Each team is requested to walk with a new pack of dominoes.

The social interaction idea was first mooted by Minister of Culture Youth and Sports, Dr. Frank Anthony after which a management committee chaired by Permanent Secretary Alfred King was formed.

The interaction aims at fostering  cohesion among staff members within government ministries and encouraging  people to use their energies and drive to organize sports and to pursue healthy and productive lifestyles.
