Hussain replaces Cheema in Caribbean-bound Pakistan squad

LAHORE, Pakistan, CMC – Rookie speedster Sadaf Hussain has been called up to replace uncapped pacer Aizaz Cheema in Pakistan’s 16-man one-day squad to face West Indies later this month in the Caribbean.

Cheema, 31, failed to recover from a leg injury in time and subsequently failed a fitness test at the National Cricket Academy on Wednesday.“Cheema has been declared unfit for cricketing activities by the board doctors. He has a thigh muscular problem and is struggling for 100 per cent fitness,” a Pakistan Cricket Board spokesman was quoted as saying.

The 21-year-old Hussain will take Cheema’s place in the squad which is scheduled to leave next Thursday for the Caribbean.
A left-arm pacer, he finished as the leading wicket-taker in the domestic season with 64 scalps and has already snared 90 wickets in 18 first class matches overall.

Pakistan will face West Indies in one Twenty20 International and five One-Day Internationals starting April 21st in St Lucia.
