Rudy Grant romps victory

Rudy Grant romped his way to victory in the final of the Men’s over 45 singles last Tuesday as the Macorp Open lawn tennis tournament continued at the Le Meridien Pegasus Tennis Courts.

According to a press release, Grant showed that he was still a force to be reckoned with as he outlasted Albert Madramootoo in straight sets to  win the title, 6-2, 7-5.

Grant produced a mixture of short drops and well placed lobs to come from behind and take the second set with fourth straight points.

In doubles action Godfrey Lowden teamed up with Ezra Sue-Ho to win his third straight doubles title of the tournament.

Lowden and Sue Ho claimed the men’s doubles title by defeating Leyland Leacock and Gilbert Barckoy in three sets (6-3, 3-6, 6-0).

The match featured high quality tennis as both teams tried to assert themselves with strong play at the net.
Sue-Ho especially played some crunching topspin forehands which made it easy for Lowden to capitalize at the net.
Meanwhile Sue-Ho will return to action when he faces top seed Jeremy Miller in the men’s final which is scheduled for Saturday while the women’s final will see a rematch between Girls U-18 finalists Shawna Gentle and Aruna Ramrattan today at 17:00hrs.
