Alpha United and GDF battle for crown tonight

The 2010/2011 Guyana Football Federation (GFF) National Super League competition will wrap up tonight with the final between defending champions Alpha United and Guyana Defence Force (GDF) at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) Ground.

These two finalists will engage each other from 8:30pm for the top prize of $500,000 while the runner up team will receive $300,000. Alpha United and GDF emerged as the top two seeds in the Super Four round leaving the other two teams, Rosignol United and Milerock to battle for third place.

Rosignol United faces Milerock from 6:30pm to decide who wins the third place prize of $200,000 and who claims the fourth place $100,000 prize.
Over the weekend GDF defeated Milerock 4 – 1 in the second semi-final to qualify for their meeting with  Alpha  who  defeated Rosignol United 3 – 1 in the other semi-final two weeks ago.

The tournament is finally able to conclude after it was  interrupted by the inclement weather and the first two rounds of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Club Championships which front runners Alpha United and Milerock participated in.
The 2011/2012 National Super League is set commence in August.
