Play resumes after 4-1/2 delay at Players Championship

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Florida, (Reuters) – Play was  stopped for 4-1/2 hours at the Players Championship due to a  thunder storm yesterday.

With dark clouds closing in on the TPC Sawgrass and  forecasts stating a 100 percent chance of storms, organisers  sounded the horn before any leading players had started their  rounds.
After the rain eased off and the course was cleaned up, play  restarted at 1730 local (ET) with the prospect of about 2-1/2  hours of action.

American David Toms had the overnight lead by a stroke from  compatriot Nick Watney with Britons Luke Donald and Graeme  McDowell two shots off the lead.

Toms was due to tee-off at 1900 local, which will likely  give him about an hour on the course.
