Guyana’s Euleen Josiah-Tanner wins CARICOM 10K

Guyana’s Euleen Josiah- Tanner on Sunday won the female category of the sixth CARICOM 10K road race held in St Kitts, Nevis under the theme “Run for life… Exercise your right.”

St Lucia earned its first hold on the CARICOM Chairman’s trophy when Zepherinus Joseph won the event in a time of 37:07:00.

In second position was Grenada’s Sherwin Paul who finished in 37:57:93 while St Vincent and the Grenadines Pamenos Ballentyne finished third in 39:29:73.

Josiah-Tanner was a surprise winner finishing in a time of 43:06:52 while Grenada’s Kenisha Pascal was second in 45:08;84 and Guyana’s Alika Morgan third in 45:59:19.

Joseph was presented with his trophy during the closing ceremony of the annual CARICOM Summit yesterday by CARICOM Chairman Dr Denzil Douglas while Josiah-Tanner received her trophy from His Excellency Desire’ Delano Bouterse, president of the Republic of Suriname and Lead Head of Government for Community Development and Cultural Co-operation including Culture, Gender, Youth and Sport in the CARICOM quasi-cabinet, a release from the CARICOM Secretariat stated.
