DCC wins Tropical Mist Pee Wee cricket competition

The Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) proved too strong for Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) in recording an 83-run victory in the Banks DIH sponsored Tropical Mist Pee Wee cricket final played Thursday afternoon at the Thirst Park ground.

Early morning showers failed to stop play as the players donned their whites for an epic battle after rain had forced the postponement of the final twice before.

Batting first, DCC rattled up 234 at the end of their allotted 20 overs with Captain Shemar De Souza leading the way with an unbeaten knock of 25.

Bowling for GCC, Aravinda Gainda took four wickets for six runs from his two overs. He was later named Best Bowler and Best fielder of the final for his pugnacious performance in a losing cause.
In reply, GCC were restricted to 151 runs.

The Bourda batsmen found it hard to score and once the first openers were dismissed, they lost wickets frequently and fell out of contention.
