Golfers gear up for busy weekend

The Sanjay Jewellery tournament and a farewell match for outgoing Canadian High Commissioner Francois Montour will keep golfers busy this weekend at the Lusignan Golf Course.

After sponsoring two major tournaments last year, Sanjay’s Jewellery of Sheriff Street returns for the first time this season to sponsor a Medal Play Classic which should attract a large turnout in anticipation of several attractive prizes today.

Managing Director of Sanjay Jewellery, Sanjay Persaud, is expected to be on hand to assist in the presentation of prizes.
The lineup is expected to include the consistent Avinash Persaud,  Mohanlall “Santo” Dinnanauth , Roy Cummings, Muztaz Haniff, Chatterpaul Deo, Christine Sukhram, Joaan Deo, William Walker, Brian Hackett, Carlos Adams, Clifford Reis, Colin Ming, Maurice Solomon, Robert Hanoman, Dr. Ram Singh, Patrick Prashad, Mark Lashley, Mike Gayadin, Francois Montour, Ronald Bulkan, Andre Cummings and Mike Mangal.
Tee off is at 12:30 hours.

On Monday (Emancipation Day), The Francois Montour Farewell tournament will be played off for the outgoing  Canadian High Commissioner an ardent golfer who is on the final leg of his tour of duty in Guyana.
Montour had showed tremendous form during his stay by winning a few tournaments and has been among the prize winners on a few occasions.
Starting time is at 10:00 hours.

The players will then be treated to dinner and  a presentation ceremony at the High Commissioner’s residence.
