Priyanna Ramdhani reaches Pan Am Juniors mixed doubles semis

National junior badminton player Priyanna Ramdhani on Friday reached  the semi -finals in the mixed doubles category of the Pan American Junior Badminton Individual Championships currently ongoing at the National Indoor Sports Centre in Kingston, Jamaica.

Partnered with El Salvador’s Pedro Vasquez, the pair managed to defeat teams coming from Brazil and Jamaica. Ramdhani and Vasquez defeated the Brazilian team of Felipe Banzato and Luanna Capuli 21-17, 21-13 in the quarter finals of the under 11 category, following the 21-6, 21-3 trouncing they delivered to the team of Jamaicans Jordan Atterbury and Brianna Lewis.

However, the quarter final was as far as Ramdhani could manage when it came to the girls doubles category, where she paired up with Jamaica’s Lewis. In the quarter final Ramdhani and her team mate were taken down by the number two seeded team of Tammy Xie and Helen Ye, who represented the United States of America.

Xie and Ye delivered 21 – 5, 21 – 8 defeat to Ramdhani and Lewis, while over in the boys under 11 singles Guyana’s Christopher Camacho was also cut down in the  quarter finals, also on Friday, when he came up against Peru’s Gustavo Salazar who won by a 21 – 1, 21 – 4 margin.
