Prashad wins Sanjay Jewellery golf tourney

Heavy showers yesterday morning washed out the planned farewell golf tournament for outgoing Canadian High Commissioner Francois Montour scheduled for yesterday at the Lusignan Golf Club, East Coast Demerara.

Officials disclosed that the tournament would now take place on Saturday at the same venue.

High Commissioner Montour, an ardent golfer tour of duty to Guyana will end soon.

The tournament would have capped a busy weekend for golfers following the Sanjay’s Jewellery Medal Play tournament played Saturday.

That competition was played despite rain and heavy winds.

Patrick Prashad shot a net 69 to come out victorious ahead of 35 golfers who braved the weather to compete.

Former Guyana Open champion Imran Khan copped the second position with a net 70 while third place went to Bholawram Deo who shot a net 70.

Nearest to the Pin was Vijay Deo.

Secretary of the LGC William Walker expressed gratitude to Sanjay Persaud, Managing Director of Sanjay Jewellery for sponsoring Saturday’s tournament.

According to Walker, Sanjay’s Jewellery is truly a committed sponsor.
