Greene and Devers named to U.S. Hall of Fame

Reuters) – Former Olympic champions Maurice  Greene, Gail Devers and Vince Matthews have been named to  the National Track & Field Hall of Fame, USA Track & Field  (USATF) said yesterday.   

They will be inducted into the Hall along with former world  cross country champion Craig Virgin, seven-times Boston Marathon  winner Clarence Demar and coach Bob Timmons on Dec. 3 at the  USATF annual meeting in St. Louis.   

Maurice Greene

Former 100 metres world record holder Greene won Olympic  gold in the 100 and 4×100 metres relay at the 2000 Sydney Games  and claimed three 100 metres world titles.
  
Devers, a three-times world champion hurdler, was the 1992  and 1996 Olympic 100 metres gold medallist and won a 4×100 relay  gold in 1996.  
Matthews won gold in the 400 metres at the 1972 Munich Games  and with the world record-breaking U.S. 4×400 metres team at the  1968 Mexico City Olympics.  

Gail Devers

Timmons coached 16 world record holders and mentored Jim  Ryun, the first U.S. high school athlete to run a  sub-four-minute mile.
