NBS second division cricket competition…Sewkarran, Kadim steer Bath to victory

Avishkar Sewkarran became the latest centurion in the 2011 New Building Society (NBS) second division limited overs cricket competition when he slammed a match-winning 101 not out for West Berbice’s team, Bath.

Batting first Cotton Tree Die Hard, spearheaded by 61 from Tage Singh an innings which included three fours and three sixes, ended on 203-5. In reply, Sewkarran, who opened the innings for Bath,

ended on 101 not out, striking 11 fours and four sixes as Bath ended on 204-4 in only 28 overs.

In other results, D’Edward rattled up 171 against Shieldstown, in their rain affected encounter, thanks mainly to former Berbice all-rounder, Eon Abel, who slammed a 25-ball 82 which included 10 fours and four sixes.

Abel returned bowling off-spin, to capture  3 for 19 while leg-spinner, Derick Lalsa-Narine jnr supported with 3 for 8,  as Shieldstown reached 92 in 9 in their 20 overs.

Andrew Dennis scored 60 which included three  fours and two sixes to spearhead Achievers to 211 for 4 in 30 overs against Hopetown United. After that, off-spinner Dennis Webster, took 5 for 13 which together with leg-spinner Dennis’ 2 for 9, helped dismiss Hopetown for 117.

At Cotton Tree, Bath beat Cotton Tree Die Hard by 8 wickets. Cotton Tree Die Hard 203 in 35 overs with Tage Singh 61, Naresh Ramnauth 4 for 26 and Vishal Bejai 4 for 30. Bath 204 for 2 in 28 overs with Avishkar Sewkarran 101 not out, Sean Kadim 51, Roshan Gafor 2 for 30.

At D’Edward, D’Edward beat Shieldstown by 79 runs. D’Edward 171 for 5 in 20 overs with Eon Abel 82. Shieldstown 92 for 9 in 20 overs with Derick Narine-Lalsa jnr 3 for 8 and Eon Abel 3 for 19.

At Lovely Lass, Achievers beat Hopetown United by 94 runs. Achievers 211 for 4 in 30 overs with Andrew Dennis 60, Raffel Estriado 49, Sherwyn McPherson 39 and Dennis Webster 27 not out. Hopetown United 117 in 22 overs with Steffon Adams 34, Dellon Wayne 26, Dennis Webster 5 for 13 and Andrew Dennis 2 for 9.

At Seawell, Seawell beat East Canje by 151 runs. Seawell 201 for 4 in 30 overs with Aslam Ally 45 not out, Nourang Singh 44, Aprudh Waortie 42 not out and Naitram Jainabi 29.

East Canje 50 in 18 overs with Petam Dhanraj 4 for 19 and Dhanesh Dhanraj 4 for 20.

At Sisters, Overwinning Bible Church beat Glasgow New Scheme by 107 runs. Overwinning Bible Church 163 in 19 overs with Glenroy Clements 46, Carl Peters 30, Derick Cedogan 5 for 22 and Vibert Hope 2 for 29. Glasgow New Scheme 56 runs in 19.3 overs with Richard Henry 3 for 12, Jeeraish Deejees 2 for 3 and Rocky Hutson 2 for 5.

At No.69, No.70 M.Y.O beat No.69 Red Rose by 44 runs. No.70 M.Y.O 138 in 25 overs with Shabir Khan 38. No.69 Red Rose 94 in 19 overs with Shabir Khan 5 for 15.

At Edinburg, Flying Star beat Edinburg by 6 wickets. Edinburg 85 in 19.1 overs with Quacy DeVelde 5 for 19, Marvin Durant 2 for 21 and Ravi Bridgelall 2 for 24.
