Trio predictably picked for T&T semi-final clash

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC – As expected, Trinidad and Tobago selectors have included the World Cup trio of Darren Bravo, Kieron Pollard and Ravi Rampaul in their 13-man squad for the Regional First Class Championship semi-final against Jamaica starting tomorrow.

The squad, which will be led by Daren Ganga, was announced yesterday by officials here.  Hard-hitting all-rounder, the stylish left-hander Bravo and fast bowler Rampaul returned to the Caribbean last Friday following West Indies’ failed World Cup campaign in the Asian subcontinent.

Selectors have axed batsmen Tishan Maraj and Nicholas Alexis, along with fast bowler Atiba Alert who were members of the squad that defeated Guyana last weekend in the final preliminary round.  Trinidad and Tobago reached the final four of the tournament when they finished second in the standings on 52 points, behind top-of-the-table Combined Campuses and Colleges who were one point ahead.

The match will be played the Sir Frank Worrell Ground at the University of the West Indies at St Augustine.

SQUAD – Daren Ganga (captain), Lendl Simmons, Imran Khan, Kieron Pollard, Darren Bravo, Sherwin Ganga, Jason Mohammed, Denesh Ramdin, Rayad Emrit, Amit Jaggernauth, Yannic Cariah, Shannon Gabriel, Ravi Rampaul.
