Floodlights donate $130,000 to Guywid

Guyana Women in Development (Guywid) is  the latest beneficiary of a monetary donation from the Floodlights softball cricket team of Georgetown.

The organization was recently the recipient of $130,000 from the cricketers following a fund raising cricket venture over the weekend.

In the picture above, Guywid representative, Pamela Bacchus, receives the donation from Mike Singh of the Floodlights club.

On Sunday at the Cumberland Cricket Ground, Canje, Floodlights staged three matches with one being of the softball variety to help raise funds for the women’s organization.

The matches involved former West Indies players Sewnarine Chattergoon and Narsingh Deonarine along with players like Jonathan Foo, Ricky Deonarain, Anil Beharry, Asad Fuddadin, Mike Singh, Gajanand Singh, Richard Persaud, Richard Ramdeen, Wayne Jones and Ramesh Sunich, to mention a few.

Memorex won the softball match while Rose Hall, led by Guyana captain Assad Fuddadin, defeated the powerful Albion team on their way to the final where they defeated home team Young Warriors.
