Tiwary and Abdulla earn Kolkata victory over Delhi

NEW DELHI,  (Reuters) – Manoj Tiwary’s unbeaten  half-century and three wickets from Iqbal Abdulla helped Kolkata  Knight Riders to a 17-run win over Delhi Daredevils in the  Indian Premier League (IPL) yesterday.

Tiwary hit 61 in 47 balls to guide Kolkata to 148 for seven  after Delhi captain Virender Sehwag put them in to bat at the  Feroz Shah Kotla stadium.

Right-hander Tiwary struck two fours and three sixes after  skipper Gautam Gambhir’s side had made a slow start. Delhi then pinned their hopes on opening pair Sehwag and  David Warner.

Warner was dismissed for two and once Sehwag fell,  attempting to hook, for a 23-ball 34 the Daredevils struggled to  keep up with the run rate.

Left-arm spinner Abdulla achieved prodigious turn and picked  up three for 25 as Delhi finished on 131 for nine.

Kolkata’s fourth win in seven matches catapulted them to  second in the table. Delhi are bottom having lost five of their  seven games.
