Rooplall’s 135 gives Better Hope highest team score in Kares Tapeball tournament

Ricknauth Rooplall stroked 135 runs not out to lead Better Hope XI to the highest team score in the Kares Tapeball tournament to date against Combine Warriors last weekend at the Ogle Community Ground. According to a press release, in the second weekend of the competition with close to 190 matches completed, the Lower East Coast Zone came alive as Rooplall blasted some 19 sixes and two fours on his way to the highest individual score of the tournament.

Chris Patadin who partnered with Rooplall slammed 48 runs in an entertaining partnership of 200 runs. The partnership saw Better Hope scoring the highest team score of 218 for 3 in the tournament which seemed to damper the spirits of their opponents. to Better Hope’s highest score on the Ogle Community Ground, Enterprise Young Achievers (EYA)-3 registered the lowest team total as they were demolished for seven runs by their own village team counterparts, EYA-2. Bad running between the wickets caused the demise of EYA-3 as 7 run outs were effected during their innings.  In other results, Cullen SC, Die Hard Brothers and Endeavour progressed in the South Essequibo zone while in the North Essequibo zone, Windsor Castle cricket team, Affiance Storm and Vergin Gladiators were the victorious teams.

In the rain-affected Linden zone, Classic Cricket Team, Canvas City Tigers and Wismar United were able to progress while Georgetown and East Bank matches on Saturday were rescheduled to Sunday but most teams gained  walkovers. Teams such as Courts, Supernova and Gem’s XI were able to achieve wins. Meanwhile matches will continue this weekend at various grounds across the country.
