Somerset won’t sue Gayle

(Barbados Nation) LONDON – English county side Somerset have decided against taking legal action against West Indies batsman Chris Gayle for breach of contract.

Gayle had signed to play for Somerset in this season’s Friends Life T20 competition but, after resolving his differences with the West Indies team management, has made himself available for the limited-overs section of their tour of England.

Somerset’s chief executive Guy Lavender indicated that they took legal advice and decided that it was not in the best interest of either Somerset or cricket, to take legal action.

“Having taken legal advice and reflected on the situation over the last 24 hours, we have concluded that it is not in the best interests of Somerset County Cricket Club, Chris Gayle, or cricket more generally to pursue this matter any further,” Lavender said.
