Barr St man dies in Friendship crash

The police say they are investigating a fatal accident that occurred at about 0415h today on the Friendship Public Road, EBD, and which resulted in the death of Richard Smith, 31 years of Barr Street, Kitty.

Police say that investigations revealed that Richard Smith was driving motor car HB 166 allegedly at a fast rate, when the vehicle ran into a pool of water causing him to lose control and the vehicle ended up in the lane of a motor lorry that was travelling in the opposite direction. There was a collision and Smith suffered injuries. He was pronounced DOA at the Diamond Diagnostic Centre, the police said.

The driver of the motor lorry is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
