Stafanie Taylor first female contender for ICC Cricketer-of-the-Year

(Jamaica Observer) KINGSTON, Jamaica — West Indies all-rounder, Jamaican Stafanie Taylor is the first woman to be nominated for the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Cricketer of the Year award.

Taylor, who won the female version last year, will be up against several top players, including Aussie Michael Clarke and Pakistan’s Saeed Ajmal, for the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy.

Two awards were added to the ceremony for women this year; One Day International Cricketer of the Year and T20I Cricketer of the Year. Taylor is nominated for both.  The nominations took place yesterday and the awards are scheduled for September 16.
