Ganja farm destroyed on Hamburg Island

At about 2100h last night, the police conducted a drug eradication operation at Hamburg Island, Essequibo River, during which a field of about two acres of cannabis sativa (marijuana) plants under cultivation was found.

The plants which were over six feet in height were destroyed.

An abandoned camp with some 250 marijuana seedlings and 35 pounds of dried marijuana was also found, along with a 15 feet fibre glass boat with a 15 HP outboard motor engine.

No one was arrested.
