Three die in Jamaica accident

(Jamaica Gleaner) Forty-five year-old Michael Nicholas and his son, 18-year-old Andre, are among three men who died last night when their trailer plunged into the Rio Cobre.

The other victim is Omar Watt, 42.

The trailer, which was being driven towards Spanish Town by the elder Nicholas plunged into the river around 9 o’clock last night trapping all three inside.

It happened after the driver failed to properly negotiate the bridge.

This resulted in the rear right wheel of the trailer slipping off the bridge dragging the entire truck with it.

The police have advised the Bog Walk Gorge is now closed as a result of the incident.

Motorists should use the alternative routes through Barry or Sligoville.
