The Maritime Administration Department has notified that S/V VERITAS Viking is undertaking an offshore Geophysical 3D Seismic Survey on behalf of oil explorer Exxon.
A notice in today’s Stabroek News said that the survey began on November 17 and is to last eight weeks within the Stabroek Block offshore Guyana.
The notice said that the site survey area is around 148 km from the coast. Mariners are requested to stay clear of the vessel which will be displaying the international signal for such vessels.
Exxon is one of a number of oil explorers who are interested in prospecting in Guyana’s waters.
Two offshore well attempts this year failed.
