(Jamaica Observer) KINGSTON, Jamaica – Usain Bolt won the Male Athlete-of-the-Year award for the fourth time, a first since the International Association of Athletic Federations (IAAF) started the prestigious award.
Additionally, Bolt’s coach, Glen Mills, won an award for Lifetime Achievement in coaching at the presentations held in Barcelona, Spain this morning.
Bolt previously won the award in 2008, 2009 and 2011, all years in which he dominated either the Olympic Games or outdoor World Championships.
The charismatic Jamaican won both sprints and the 4x100m relay at the Olympics, repeating his Beijing 2008 feat.
American Allyson Felix won the women’s equivalent, after capturing the 200m at the London Olympics and gold as part of both relay teams.
The Caribbean again celebrated when Trinidad and Tobago’s Keshorn Walcott won the Male Rising Star award for winning a historic gold in the Javelin at the London Games.
