At about 1240h today, police said that Leon Daniels, 7 years of Kwakwani was in a small wooden boat operated by his uncle Brian Lewis, 17 years of Kwakwani, and while in the vicinity of West Watooka, Linden, the boat capsized.
As a result, police say, they both fell overboard and Lewis surfaced. A search was mounted for Daniels who was subsequently found beneath the water.
Daniels was taken to the MacKenzie Hospital, where he was pronounced DOA.
Lewis has been arrested and is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
