Conductor dies after East Coast accident

Police said that investigations are being conducted into a fatal accident that occurred at about 1900h yesterday at Atlantic Ville Public Road, ECD, and which resulted in the death of  conductor Rodwin Todd, 25 years of Surat Drive, B/V, ECD and injuries to passengers Natasha Chance, 34 years of Ogle, ECD; Genevieve Carberry, 56 years of Plantain Walk, B/V, ECD; Prudence Thornhill, 19 years, of Vryheid Lust, ECD; Wishenna Charles, 77 years, of Triumph, ECD; and Adiyan Corbin, 21 years, of Triumph, ECD.

Police say that initial investigations revealed that motor car PLL 8410 was proceeding east along the southern carriageway with mini bus BKK 1776 behind.  It is alleged that the driver of the mini bus attempted to overtake motor car PLL 8410 and collided with the right side of the motorcar.  As a result, the driver of the mini bus lost control of the vehicle and slammed into the median of the road, causing the vehicle to topple several times.

Todd was pronounced DOA at the GPHC, police said, while the injured passengers were all admitted for medical treatment.
