Some Bajan security firms ‘slave camps’ – union leader

(Barbados Nation) Calling some security firms “slave camps”, trade union leader Sir Roy Trotman has warned that something must be done about them.

The General Secretary of the Barbados Workers’ Union said he was very saddened about the situation involving security guards.

He said: “We see far too many examples of people who put uniforms on people, don’t train them, don’t want to give them decent working conditions, don’t want to give them a voice at the workplace, don’t want them to be anything but automatons and then they expect those people to have sterling performances . . . . ”

There were far too many examples of this situation, Sir Roy told a news conference last Saturday at Solidarity House.
