Roaming days over

Roaming days over? This magnificent jaguar was captured on the Moblissa trail by a man and brought to the city yesterday. The man, who said he has plans to hand the animal over to the Zoo, had the cage in the back of a pick-up and a small crowd gathered around the vehicle parked on Robb Street. According to the man, who did not give his name, he had some difficulty capturing the animal as it was very fierce and at one point “bite through some big wood.” There were visible injuries to the animal’s face and the man said this was caused by it attempting to escape from the small metal cage. Even though it was obviously tired and injured the animal still snapped at the curious onlookers at intervals. Many of these great cats have been shot dead on the coast and other areas in recent years for raiding cattle and livestock.
