Taxi-driver shot in face during car-jacking

A taxi-driver was shot to the face during a carjacking on Sunday night by three men who posed as passengers.

Jermaine Rover, 21, of No 78 Village, Corentyne, Berbice sustained gunshot wounds to the face and right hand in the attack, before the men drove off with his car.

Crime Chief Seelall Persaud told this newspaper earlier this afternoon that it was based on information received that police recovered the car at Plantation Foulis, West Coast Berbice, with two men inside. He said that the duo is in police custody assisting with the investigation.

Police said in a press release today that at around 6:30pm on Sunday, Rover was robbed and shot by three men, one of whom was armed with a handgun.

Rover was hired by the men to be taken to Moleson Creek. On arrival, one of the men shot him to his face and right hand. They relieved him of his motor car HB 3123 and escaped.
