(Barbados Nation) The strike by more than two dozen Alexandra School teachers is heading into its third week in spite of the intervention of Prime Minister Freundel Stuart.

The strike relates to several matters surrounding the principal of the school.

Yesterday, Barbados Secondary Teachers’ Union (BSTU) president Mary Redman told the DAILY NATION that teachers would remain off the job today, day 20 of the strike, and meet at the union’s headquarters in Belleville, St Michael.

However, Redman said that plans to escalate the action and involve more schools remained suspended pending further discussions.

Just Friday afternoon, the BSTU with its attorney Hal Gollop met with Prime Minister Freundel Stuart at his Ilaro Court residence in Two Mile Hill, St Michael, and, according to Redman, those deliberations were “very, very productive”.

Both the BSTU and the NUPW are awaiting word from the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Education on the next development in a case that has brought several classes at Alexandra School to a standstill.
