Cops hold three after woman robbed at LBI

Police say that at about 1130h today, Accounts Clerk Sarsawattie Singh, 49 years of Foulis, Enmore, ECD, was walking along the LBI Access Road, ECD, when she was confronted by two men.

The two men threw Singh to the ground and took away her jewellery valued at $210,000.00, and her hand-bag with $5,000.00 and escaped, police said.

The police responded quickly to the report received with mobile patrols being alerted.  This, they say, resulted in ranks of a TSU patrol, acting on information received, stopping a motor car some distance from the scene and arresting the driver and two other male occupants.

Police added that the two men were searched and all the articles stolen from  Singh were found in their possession.  They have also been identified as the perpetrators by the victim.

The two suspects along with the driver, who all come from Georgetown, are in police custody.  Charges will be laid shortly.
