Bigger T20 plans for Caribbean

(Barbados Nation) The Caribbean could be about to have its own version of the Indian Premier League (IPL) or Australia Big Bash.

The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) is currently considering a number of proposals with a view to commercializing its Twenty20 tournament.

At its annual general meeting in St Lucia last weekend, WICB president Dr Julian Hunte reported to members that discussions had entered the final stages with a number of investors who wished to finance a commercialized Caribbean Twenty20.

“It is not yet opportune to provide more information, but a committee has been set up which will review all proposals and make a recommendation to the board of directors,” Hunte said in his annual report.
