Youth remanded over two counts of robbery under arms

A 20-year-old Lodge Housing Scheme man was remanded to prison yesterday after appearing at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court to answer two counts of robbery under arms.

The charges read that on March 5 Keon Griffith of 54 Lodge Housing Scheme while being armed with a gun robbed Raymond Ramkissoon of one cellular phone, a tattoo kit, a camera and cash and also on the same day he robbed Avinash Armogan of one cellular phone and cash.

The court heard that on the day in question at about 12:00hrs Ramkissoon was preceding into Lodge Housing Scheme when the defendant and another person approached him with a gun and robbed him of the articles stated in the charge.

The matter was reported to the police who subsequently found the defendant in a yard and a search th

at was conducted in the yard recovered the tattoo kit and the camera.

The prosecution objected to bail on the grounds that the investigation is still continuing with regards to the other accomplice and if granted bail it is likely he may interfere with investigations and not return to court.

The defendant was refused bail and he was ordered to appear  in Court Three on March 15.
