Cop, other man still in custody over woman in Nismes trench

The Police still have in custody a cop and the boyfriend of Leonaka Natasha Johnson whose  body was found floating in a canal at Nismes, West Bank Demerara on Saturday.

According to Johnson’s sister, Suzette Johnson, investigators told the family that they have in custody the policeman who was last seen with her and her boyfriend and that the investigations are ongoing.

She added that a post-mortem examination is expected to be performed on her sister’s remains today to confirm the cause of death.

At around 6:00 am the body of 20-year-old Johnson called ‘Tasha’ of 17 Nismes, River View, WBD was discovered floating in the nearby canal by persons in the area who alerted her relatives. The woman’s relatives said that she was last seen in the company of a policeman and is not the type that ‘sleeps out’ which puzzled them as to how she died.

Johnson is engaged to be married but was having some minor issues with her fiancé.

The relatives are of the view that she was murdered at another location and her body dumped in the canal.
